Thank you for your interest in teaching medical students for the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at the University of Minnesota. Adjunct faculty are vital to the mission of our department.

1. How do I become an adjunct faculty member?

• First, look at Teaching Responsibilities for an overview.

• Next, fill out the Human Resources Information Form (Excel)

• Options:

• Print and fill it out by hand; then either mail or fax it (Fax: 612-625-0916)
• Fill it out online, save to your hard drive, and send as an attachment to hills007@umn.edu
• Fill it out online and print it; either mail or fax it.

The Microskills Model of Clinical Teaching (Neher JO, Gordon KC, Meyer B, Stevens N. A five-step "microskills" model of clinical teaching. J Am Board Fam Pract. 1992;5:419-424) is used to improve the educational interaction between student and preceptor; the model is flexible, portable, and easy to use.
